Charles C. Jenkins Jr. , 67, Air Traffic Controller
Charles C. Jenkins Jr., 67, of Lorain, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, after a lengthy illness.He was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Braddock, PA, and moved to Oberlin in 1968.
He worked as an air traffic controller at the Oberlin Air Traffic Control Center and later at Ford Motor Company. He retired from the Avon Lake plant after 20 years of service in 2009.
First and foremost, Charlie loved family. He also enjoyed crafts, golf, watching Steelers football and old westerns, and having coffee with his friends at George’s. He was an active and dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1977, where he served as worship assistant, managing trustee, board of director, Sunday School superintendent, and elder.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marsha Jenkins (nee Sitko); son, Keith (Wendy) Jenkins of Worthington, OH; daughter, Allison (Adam) Koehler of Detroit, MI; brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Jenkins of West Mifflin, PA; and sister, Beverly (Glenn) Smith of Monroeville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Jenkins Sr.; and mother, Helen (nee Kasko) Jenkins.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 18, at 2p.m., at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Home, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain, with his nephew, Rev. Kurt Jenkins officiating.
