Eugene E. White , 82, US Army Veteran & Known Bad Joke Teller

He was born June 3, 1930 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Gene served with the US Army as a Corporal during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Gene worked at Ohio Edison as a lineman and mechanic for 38 years retiring in 1992 and was a member of the Ohio Edison Men’s Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. Gene loved to feed the squirrels on the front porch of his home and was known by his family and friends for telling bad jokes.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carolyn Sue White (nee Bridges), children Lisa Kaye Heiland (Gary) and Laura Holody, grandchildren Brooke Armstrong, Lindsey Ramirez-Buehner, Justin Hughes, Jordan Hughes and Jarrod Hughes, great grandchildren Madison, Eva, Mia, Cecily and Noah and brothers Art (Darlene) White and Dennis (Maxine) White. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Mary White (nee Mazza) and sisters Dolores Dodi Koeff and Carmel Dobos.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Guy Morton, retired pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township where the VFW Post #451 and the American Legion Post #30, both of Lorain, will conduct military honors.
