Samuel R. McKnight Jr. , 75, US Air Force Veteran & Retired Carpenter

Photo of Samuel R.  McKnight Jr. Samuel R. McKnight, Jr., 75, of Elyria passed away on Monday evening, August 20, 2012 at his home following a long illness.

Mr. McKnight was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on May 1, 1937, the son of the late Samuel R. and Edith L. (nee Ellis) McKnight, Sr.

He was a graduate of Lorain High School and a United States Air Force veteran.

He was a retired carpenter for Jacobs Investments in Cleveland for 18 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Emerald Valley Golf Club as well as the Italian-American Veterans Club.

Mr. McKnight is survived by his wife of 37 years, JoAnn (nee Mueller) McKnight, daughters Theresa A. (Michael) Piatt, of Amherst, Rhonda D Heginbotham, of Vermilion, Carrie A. (Vince) Ragnoni, of Vermilion, sons Robert A. (Stephanie) Townsley of Elyria, Michael A. (Ilia) Townsley of LaGrange, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Harry J. McKnight and a sister Mary L. "Dee" (Frank) Martin of Lorain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Betty Sue Daniels and Richard C McKnight.

The family will receive friends at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Deacon Edgar Gonzalez will be officiating.

Burial will be private.
