Anita R. Walters , 95, Registered Nurse & Devoted Reader

Photo of Anita R.  Walters Anita R. Walters, 95, (nee Lukens) died Tuesday morning, August 28, 2012 at her home following a brief illness.

Mrs. Walters was born in Gary, IN on May 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sara (nee Rice) Lukens.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School. She studied nursing at both the St. Alexis and St. Martin's Schools of Nursing. Her career as a registered nurse was spent entirely at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lorain.

A long time and devoted member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, she served on both the Altar Guild and in the Ruth Circle. She was very active in the Lutheran Church's small group ministry.

Mrs. Walter's enjoyed fishing with her husband and was an enthusiastic Cleveland sports fan, especially the Browns and the Indians. She also was a devoted reader.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a wonderful church family, that cared for her and visited her often.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Walters in 2001 and a daughter Ruth Maxine Walters in 1947.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral Services will be Friday, August 31, 2012 in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 603 Washington Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
