David Leeper Sr. , 43, Loving Father & Avid Sports Fan

Photo of David Leeper Sr. David Leeper, Sr., age 43, of Sheffield Township, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on the morning of September 3, 2012.

He was born in Lorain on March 13, 1969 and was a 1987 graduate of Clearview High School; while attending Clearview he was a varsity letterman on both the Clipper football and basketball teams. Following his graduation, he attended Kent State University.

Dave was a former member of the United States Army Reserve and had been employed as a production assistant at Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Truck Plant in Avon Lake.

He was an avid sports fan and a loyal follower of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Boston Celtics.

Survivors include his son David Leeper, Jr. residing in Lorain, his mother Judith A. Leeper (nee Tobak), also of Lorain, brothers Raymond A. Leeper of Lorain, and Michael (Shannan) Leeper of Mansfield along with his sister Christine A. (James) Osborne of Grafton. In addition, he leaves four nieces and one nephew.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Raymond Leeper in 1998.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel, Deacon Edgar Gonzales representing St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
