Mildred Hobor, 85, Enjoyed Gardening & Traveling
Mildred Hobor, (nee Strezovski), age 85, of Amherst Township, passed away in the early afternoon of Friday, September 21st following an extended illness.
She was born in Lorain, on October 12, 1926 and had been a resident of Amherst Township for the past 38 years.
Mildred was a graduate of Lorain High School and had been employed for 27 years as a production assistant at Lorain Products; she retired from the manufacturer in 1989. She had previously worked for General Industries and had also served as a customer service associate at Scott’s Five and Dime, the Smith and Gerhardt Department Store, and Marge’s Flowers.
Mrs. Hobor was an active member of Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Sheffield Township where she sang with the church choir. She was also affiliated with the Ruth Naomi Ladies Guild as well as the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League.
She enjoyed gardening with her late husband and selling the organic produce that they harvested to family and friends. In addition, she enjoyed trips to Cedar Point as well as a host of other destinations including Hawaii, Florida, and Arizona.
Survivors include her son Charles and his wife Gloria residing in Amherst Township, by her grandson Charlie Hobor and his wife Julie residing in Snow Mass, Colorado, and by her granddaughter Amanda Hobor-Forcinito and her husband Anthony of Bronxville, New York. In addition, she leaves her sister Margaret Potyrala residing in Elyria, sisters-in-law Rose Strezovski, Frances Hobor, Bernadette Steadman (Jim), Dorothy Hobar, and Marcella Turton, brother-in-law Charles Hobar (Wanda) of Grafton, her niece Janet Doak (Thomas) and great nephews Kevin and Brian Doak all of Strongsville, her Goddaughter Linda Mendgik, numerous other nieces and nephews, and cousins Evelyn Mendgik, and Daniel Poliak.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 2010, by her infant daughter Sue Ann Hobor, by her parents Paul and Susan (nee Curni) Strezovski, and by her brother Paul Strezovski.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Additional visitation will be observed on Tuesday in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Edgar Anthony, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family encourages memorial contributions to either Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church or to the Elyria Wesleyan Village.
