Mary M. Yakovich, 84, Enjoyed Gardening & Traveling

Photo of Mary M.  Yakovich Mary M. “Maggie” Yakovich (nee Csonka), age 84, of Lorain, passed away in the early morning hours of September 22, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

She was born in Lorain on September 21, 1928 and remained a life-long resident of the city; Maggie was a 1946 graduate of Lorain High School.

She had formerly been employed as a sales associate and customer service specialist at both the W.T. Grant Company as well as Gray Drug.

Maggie was an active parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish where she was also an active volunteer in church functions. In addition, she was a member of the parish’s Altar and Rosary Society.

In her free time she enjoyed traveling and flower gardening.

She is survived by her daughters Margaret “Peggi” DeCarlo and Christine Deering both of Lorain, by grandchildren Robin Hardwick, David DeCarlo, and Dan DeCarlo, and by great grandchild Darian DeCarlo. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yakovich was preceded in death by her husband James W. “Jack” Yakovich in 2004, by her great granddaughter Alexis Deering, by her parents George and Margaret Csonka, and by sisters Rosalie Stefan in 1985 and Margaret Flores in 2011.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Edward Luca officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
