Bernadette M. Robertson, 81, Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother

She was born April 6, 1931 in Lorain and resided in Lorain all her life.
Bernie graduated from St. Mary's High School in June 1949.
She worked at Western Automatic (now Moen) in the office, was a Cafeteria Manager at Holy Trinity Preschool and Kindergarten and at the American Slovak Club as a waitress for 25 years.
Bernie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother that truly
enjoyed spending time with her family.
She took many photographs in her lifetime and preserved family tree information and genealogy heirlooms with her appreciation for history. Bernie enjoyed cooking Slovak ethnic dishes and honoring Slovak traditions during the holidays. Her life was filled with many happy family memories along with a wide circle of loyal and special friends.
Mrs. Robertson remained very active to many organizations throughout her life. She was currently serving as president of St. Ann's Lodge Branch 114 (1990-2012) helping out many individuals with her hard work and devotion for the past 22 years.
In 2011, Bernie was awarded "Fraternalist of the Year" by the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
Bernadette also served on the Board of Directors of the American Slovak Club, and was active in the Altar & Rosary Society of Holy Trinity Church, Holy Name Society, Holy Trinity Seniors, and as an Eucharistic Minister.
She remained close to many of the Sisters of Holy Trinity Church and School over the years with her friendship and support. Bernie was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, Lorain, for 79 years. She later joined the Church of St. Peter in 2010 and participated in their Holy Name and Senior Group.
Other activities were Paduan Travelers, Jednota Branch 228, and the Mar-Win Club for 65 years (that was formed in high school). Bernie also served on the Democratic Women's Club and poll worker for 40 years. She was a volunteer for Lorain Community Hospital for the past 20 years.
Bernadette Marie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Albert J. Robertson of Lorain; son, Edward Robertson of Los Angeles and daughters: Ellen Butorac, Karen Brady, and Janet Gorenshek and son-in-law, Scott Gorenshek all of Lorain; three grandchildren, Michael Butorac, Mitchell Brady and Emily Gorenshek, brothers, Rev. Edward Luca of Lakewood, Ohio and Raymond Luca of Springfield, Virginia, sister, Marceline Downie and Aunt Pauline Luca of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Mary A. Luca (nee Stohla).
The family will receive friends Friday, September 28, from 4-8pm, at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, where the St. Ann's Lodge will pray the rosary Friday at 4pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, at 10:30am in the funeral
Chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, at the Church of Saint Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Bernadette's brother, Fr. Edward J. Luca, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
