Louis A. Yuhasz, 85, WWII Navy Veteran & Avid Cleveland Browns Fan

Photo of Louis A.  Yuhasz Louis A. Yuhasz, 85, of Lorain, died Wednesday November 21, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.

He was born September 15, 1927 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Louis served with the US Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with 1 Star and the American Area Ribbon.

Louis worked at US Steel in Lorain in the Carpenter Shop for over 40 years retiring in 1986.

As a youth, Louis participated in youth activities at Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain. He was a life member of VFW Post #451 in Lorain and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, dancing, bowling and working on cars.

He is survived by his children Michael (Mary) Yuhasz of Amherst, Barbara Yuhasz of Amherst, Diane Yuhasz of Sheffield Lake and Deborah Yuhasz of Amherst, grandchildren Nick Herrera, Joshua Birach, Michael Birach and Nathaniel Birach, great grandchildren Haley, Alexus and Brandon Herrera and sisters Ida Horvatich of Amherst and Anna Yuhasz of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Rose M. Yuhasz (nee Paytosh) in 2006, parents Andrew & Susan Yuhasz (nee Veres), sister Betty Solka and brother Frank Yuhasz.

The family will receive friends Sunday 1-5 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Chris Robinson, chaplain of New Life Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township where the VFW Post #451 and American Legion # 30 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
