Rose M. Papp, 92, Enjoyed Crafts & Spending Time with Her Grandchildren

Photo of Rose M.  Papp Rose M. Papp (nee Koves), 92, of Lorain ,died Sunday November 25, 2012 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain while under the care of New Life Hospice.

She was born May 22, 1920 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Rose graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1938B. After high school, she went to work in the cafeteria at US Steel in Lorain for many years. She also worked at the Kresge Company and Lorain Products as an assembler retiring after 20 years.

Rose was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and the former St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer at both churches and was a member of the St. Macrina Guild and Jolly 60’s.

Rose was accomplished at embroidery and enjoyed crocheting, needlework and crafts. She was devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

She is survived by her children Margaret (Donald) Penrod of Lorain, Lisa (John) Malanowski of Lorain and Katherine Papp of Strongsville, grandchildren Matthew (Molly) Penrod of Columbus, Sarah (Troy) Hall of Erie, Michigan, Rachael (Jon) Salter of Lorain and David (Leah) Malanowski of Wakeman, great grandchildren Anna Rose Penrod, William Penrod, Benjamin Hall and Ava Salter. She was preceded in death by her husband John Papp, Jr in 2002, parents Joseph and Mary Koves (nee Borocz), brother Joseph Koves and sisters Margaret Grencer, Julia Huszti and Irene Koves.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. A Parastas Service will be held Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Panachida services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St, Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor of St. Nicholas , and the Rev. Michael Huszti, nephew of Mrs. Papp, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
