Agnes T. Tomazin, 92, US Navy Veteran & Loving Mother

She was born December 28, 1919 in Lorain. After graduation, she served in the Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate Third Class. She lived in Newport, Rhode Island then Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before coming home to Lorain in 1958. She worked at U. S. Steel Lorain Works as a key punch operator.
Agnes was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovenian Catholic Church, Lorain, and the churches’ Ladies Guild and Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Slovenian National Home, Lorain where she was a volunteer at the club’s fish and steak frys and was honored as 2004 Women of the Year. She was a past president of the Lorain Slovenian Woman’s Union. Agnes was proud of her Slovenian heritage and in her sixties learned to play the button box. She entertained at nursing homes and was one of the original members of the Erie Shores Button Box Club. She loved to be a grand and a great grandmother.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters Francie Tomazin of Elyria and Sylvia Amolsch of Pompano Beach, Florida; her son Michael Tomazin of Elyria; grandchildren Amber Tomazin and Geoffrey Amolsch; great grandchildren Jacob and Anthony; sisters Mary (Tilden) Steiner of Barberton, Josephine (Leo deceased) Horton of Amherst, Frances (Robert deceased) Rottman of Lorain, and Beatrice (Edward) Horton of Wakeman
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael L. Tomazin in 1993; her parents Joseph and Anna (Née Teleha) Resek; sister Anna Foster and a infant brother; and her brother and sister-in-law Frank Fritz and Angie Tomazine.
Her family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 6 in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, Where her closing prayers will be Monday at 10 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct Military Honors.
