Ronald G. Romey, 72, US Navy Veteran & Loving Father

Photo of Ronald G. Romey Ronald G. Romey, 72 of Lorain passed away, unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

Mr. Romey was born in Buffalo, New York on May 17, 1940, a son of the late George and Gertrude (nee Tarapaki). He was a graduate of Seneca Vocational High School, Class of 1958.

He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Mr. Romey worked for 33 years at the former Lorain Products. He worked on the assembly line, as a supervisor and retired from the shipping department in 2001.

He is a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 451 and a former a member of Knights of St. John and the American Legion.

Mr. Romey enjoyed bowling; bowling in the Lorain Products League and a local couples league. He also enjoyed watching monster trucks and his cat.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Clara E. (nee Glahn) Romey, daughter Michelle M. Babb of Lorain, sons Jessie Diaz of Amherst, Joseph Diaz, living in the Carolina's, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren a sister, Florence Baron of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sisters at birth and a daughter Rose Vasquez in 2010.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until services at 1:00 p.m. in the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 3920 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Rev. Lou Maldonado, deacon of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate.
