Jes�s DelValle, 96, Man of Great Faith

Photo of Jesús  DelValle Jesús DelValle, 96, of Lorain, passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a brief illness.

He was born August 6, 1916 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1954.

He retired in 1976 from Norfolk and Western Railroad. He worked there for 23 years. Jesús was an original member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He participated in the Cursillo Movement and was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He was a man of great faith and prayer attending daily masses and praying the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and visitation of the sick. He enjoyed gardening, playing dominos and cards, and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians.

Jesús was a devoted father to sons Roberto (Brunilda), Gerry, David and Irvin (Rosa) Del Valle all of Lorain, his daughters Lourdes (Richard) Hardy and Elizabeth Del Valle both of Lorain; grandchildren Luke Hardy, Andre and Gabriel Del Valle, Elizabeth A. Mitchell and Karina, Alicia, Marisa and Liana Del Valle; great grandchildren Tiana D. and Kirk M. Mitchell, Jr. and Jacob I. Del Valle; former daughter-in-law Dorothy A. Hilton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Genoveva (nee Galarza) Del Valle in 1997; his parents Juan and Flora (nee Roldan) Del Valle, daughter Amparo Del Valle in 2010; brothers Frederico, Sotero, Eulogio and Felix Del Valle; sisters Laureana Nieves and Angela Rivera.

His family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, where closing prayers will be Thursday at 8:45 AM then Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

His family suggests contributions to Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund.
