Julie M. Carter, 84, Loving Mother & Avid Quilter

Photo of Julie M. Carter Julia Marie Carter, age 84 of Lorain died Monday December 31, 2012 in Autumn Aegis Nursing Center while under the care of New Life Hospice.

She was born December 21, 1928 in Portsmouth, OH, and resided in the Lorain area since 1953, moving from Kentucky.

Mrs. Carter belonged to Broadway Assembly Church, and enjoyed quilting and gardening.

She is survived by sons Edgar Carter Jr. of Elyria, Richard Carter of Lorain, Westley Dalton (Elbert Carter) of Vermilion, and David Carter of Lorain, and a daughter Edith Goble of Lorain, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and a brother Luther McFarland of Troy, OH.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar in 1987, a son Lawrence Nance in 2009, grandsons Dustin, and Christopher Nicholas Carter, a granddaughter Heather Goble, sisters Lula Mae Smith, and Doris Hensley, parents Edward and Mammie McFarland, and her devoted companion of many years Elmer Fechtner.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00am. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
