Ruth M. Kovarik, 84, Dedicated Mother & Grandmother

She was born April 24, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey and had moved to Lorain in 1951. She was a resident of the Abbewood in Elyria for the past 4 years.

Ruth graduated from West Side High School in Newark in 1946.

She worked in Newark for 3 years. When she moved to Lorain, she worked at the Lorain Telephone Company and Centel for 20 years as an operator and customer service representative retiring in 1989.

She is survived by her children Robert J. “Pogie” Pogorelc (Jan nee Rybarczyk) of Amherst, Thomas A. Pogorelc (Phillis) of Lorain, Michael A. Pogorelc (Cheryl) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Karen M. Antus (Daniel) of Mansfield, grandchildren Chriss, James, Matthew, Deanna & Benjamin Pogorelc, Theresa Rahall, Michelle and Joseph Antus, Ashlie Buzzard and Adam Oswalt & 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Kovarik on Oct. 23, 2000, parents Thomas H. and Carrie Mae McCafferty (nee Fagan) and sister Dorothy M. Alves.

A graveside service will be held Friday Jan. 11th at 11:00am at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Rd, Amherst. Tony Ceja will officiate.
