Joan K. Ernst, 87, Will Be Deeply Missed
Joan Katherine Ernst, 87, of Oberlin, formerly of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness.
Ms. Ernst was born in Lorain on May 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Anthony John and Charlotte (nee Tomaschewski) Ernst.
She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1943-B and was a member of the National Honor Society.
In November of 1944, she graduated from the Duke-Spencerian Business College in Cleveland.
Ms. Ernst was an executive secretary with York International (formerly Luxaire, Inc.); retiring in 1984.
Joan moved to Kendal at Oberlin in October 1993.
She was a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ, serving as the Sunday School pianist and was a choir member.
She is survived by friends Glenn and Linda Robinson and their family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Rev. Philip Kunz, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
