Jean E. Koba, 89, Loving Mother & Grandmother

Born in Columbus, Ohio on March 25, 1923, she and had been a resident of Lorain since 1946.
Jean was a graduate of Worthington High School and went on to attend both The Ohio State University and the Grant Hospital School of Nursing.
She was formerly employed as a receptionist in the Lorain dental practice of her husband, Dr. Raymond J. Koba, D.D.S Most recently she functioned as a caregiver to family and friends.
Mrs. Koba was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and was active as a volunteer and facilitator with the Lorain County Dental Society where conducted dental education programs in area schools.
She is survived by her son Raymond Koba, Jr. and his wife Tammy (nee Green) of Amherst Township, and by her daughter Susan Koba O’Neil and her husband Joe residing in Defiance. She also leaves grandsons Todd Koba, Brian Koba, Scott Koba, Michael O’Neil, Joe O’Neil, and James O’Neil along with 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond J. Koba, D.D.S. in 1968, by her parents Bernard and Elva (nee Orders) Sargent, and by her sister Janice Ball.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 noon in the funeral chapel with Father James Holmer officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
