Stephen G. Novak, 81, US Navy Veteran & Loving Husband

Photo of Stephen G. Novak The world lost a very sweet man yesterday. Stephen G. Novak, 81, of Vermilion, died Thursday January 31, 2013 in the MICU at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. He fought a hard battle with lung cancer and was full of hope and love until he passed away yesterday morning.

He was born October 9, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan and had resided in Vermilion since 1969 moving from Lorain.

Steve graduated from Lorain High School and served with the US Navy during the Korean War as an ETN-3. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal.

Steve worked for many years as an Electronics Technician at Stewart’s Appliance in Elyria before retiring.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorain. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing and was a big fan of jazz singer Diana Krall.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Marilyn (nee Chick), children Tracy Novak of Lorain and Steve Novak (wife Cindy nee Griffiths) of Westlake, grandchildren Ellee and Zach Novak and sister Dorothy (Alex) Baksa of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen & Helen Novak (nee Falletich).

Private family services will be held. Condolence and remembrance cards may be sent to the Novak family residence.
