Helen S. Drop, 95, Dedicated Wife & Mother

Photo of Helen S. Drop Helen S. Drop (nee Luca), 95, of Lorain, died Friday February 1, 2013 with her family at her side at Specialty Hospital in Amherst after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 27, 1917 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Lorain High School.

Helen was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, was presently a parishioner of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain and a member of St. Ann Lodge Branch #114.

Helen was a dedicated wife and mother who always enjoyed taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed celebrating the family’s special occasions. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting numerous afghans, cooking, baking and making breads and rolls for the holidays. Most of her time was spent praying for her family and friends.

She is survived by her children George Drop, with whom she made her home in Lorain, Robert (Judy) Drop of Lorain, Betty Jane (Gerald) Boone of Lorain and Georgine (William) Burkart of Avon, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Andrew Drop on Jan. 31, 1990, twin daughters at birth Mary Ann and Martha Jean Drop, parents Steven and Catherine Luca (nee Gercak), brothers Steve, Frank, Joseph and Andrew Luca and sister Mary Sugerik.

The family will receive friends Sunday 3-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where St. Ann Lodge Branch #114 will pray the rosary Sunday at 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
