Helen Sogan, 83, Dedicated Wife & Step-Mother

Photo of Helen  Sogan Helen Sogan, (nee Taggart), age 83, of Lorain , passed away on February 23, 2013 at the Specialty Hospital of Lorain. She was born in Lorain on March 7, 1929 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

Helen was employed as a machinist at the Nelson Stud Welding Division of TRW for 38 1/2 years; she had previously worked as a waitress at Heilman’s Restaurant.

Mrs. Sogan was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; in her free time she enjoyed travel.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years Martin, by a son Michael of Lorain, and by step-daughters Lorraine Danley of Cambridge, Ohio and Donna (Steve) Hanni of Stone Creek, Ohio. She also leaves five step-grandchildren, numerous great step-grandchildren, two great-great step-grandchildren, along with her niece Sandy (Faustino) Barrientosdelacruz residing in Bradenton , Florida .

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Hessi (nee Mcquate) Taggart, by brothers John, William, Alan, and Robert Taggart, and by sisters Hessi Thomas, Dorothy Moore, Mary Treadway, and Margaret Barns.

Visitation will be Wednesday February 27th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of closing prayers at 10:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue , Lorain . A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41285 North Ridge Road . Reverend Donald Dunson, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park , Amherst Township .
