Gaspar Warington, 90, Loving Father & Grandfather

Photo of Gaspar Warington Gaspar Warington (Garay), age 90, of Lorain, passed away on the evening of Tuesday February 26, 2013. Mr. Warington was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on January 22, 1923 and had been a long-time resident of Lorain.

He had been employed as a production assistant at Ford Motor Company’s Ohio Truck Plant retiring after a career that spanned eighteen years with the auto manufacturer. He had previously been employed by both the Fruehauf Trailer Company and U.S. Steel Corporation.

Gaspar was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Chapel where he had served on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union. He was also a founding member of the Cursillo organization at the church.

He was a fitness enthusiast who enjoyed walking and gardening in his free time.

He is survived by daughters Cossette Warington residing in Italy, Lissette Lucero (Mac) of Greeley, Colorado, Rose Warington of Lorain, Lynette Barrett of Lakewood, and Lillian Winters of Columbia, South Carolina, and by his son Martin who lives in Medina. He also leaves ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his sister Carmen Lydia Guzman of Chicago, and his former wife Nelly Barrios of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents Restituto and Petra (nee Garay) Warington, by his brother Otilio, and by his sister Socorro.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call Monday in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Reverend William A. Thaden, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
