Sabina Pawlak, 93, Devoted Seamstress & Artist
Sabina Sadie Pawlak (nee Suchocki), 93, of Lorain, died Tuesday March 5, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.She was born December 14, 1919 in Steubenville, Ohio and had resided in Lorain most of her life.
Sadie was a graduate of Lorain High School. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township.
Sadie was a seamstress and an artist who loved oil and toll painting. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and working on puzzles. For numerous years, she participated in the Christmas Bazaar at Lorain Catholic High School.
She is survived by her children Stanley J. (Sharon) Pawlak and Philip D. (Linda) Pawlak, all of Amherst, Stephanie (Ken) Mercurio and Barbara Pawlak, all of Lorain, grandchildren Chad, Stacey, Matthew, Kristen and Adam and great grandchildren Andrew, Leo, Luke, Addison and A.J. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel J. Pawlak on March 17, 2007, parents Victor and Sophie Suchocki (nee Bodja), brother Alex Suchocki and sisters Melazyn Drozdowski and Dorothy Prosak.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 am 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will begin in the funeral chapel on Thursday at 11:00 am followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd, Elyria. The Rev. Donald Dunson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
