Ann Striker, 92, Devoted Wife and Avid Gardener
Ann Striker (nee Firago), age 92, of Lorain , passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
Mrs. Striker was born in Lorain on May 7, 1920 and had been a resident of the city for the majority of her life.
Ann was a graduate of the Euclid School of Cosmetology and had been the proprietor of the former Parkview Beauty Salon in Lorain for a number of years.
She was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish. She was also active with the former St. John Roman Catholic Church where had been a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.
In her free time Mrs. Striker enjoyed flower gardening and took great pride in tending to her personal backyard garden. Additional interests included crocheting and cooking. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, she also participated in a variety of bowling leagues hosted by Rebman’s Recreation.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Patricia Striker of Amherst Township, son-in-law Ronald Kryc of Lorain, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves her sister Helen Firago residing in Cleveland .
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Paul Pat Striker, by her son Joseph, by her daughter Patricia Kryc, by her parents John and Agnes (nee Majka) Firago, by sisters Rose DeLuca, Mary Edwards, Frances Csuri, and Sophie Skrbin, and by her brother Frank Firago.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue , Lorain . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive . (Please go directly to the church.) The Reverend John C. Retar, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery .
