Richard W. Weber, 85, Navy Veteran
Richard W. Weber, 85, of Lorain passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at his home following a 2-year battle with liver cancer. He was a life-long resident of Lorain and attended St. Mary Academy.
Mr. Weber was a Navy veteran of WWII. In 1986, he retired from U.S. Steel. He worked as a inspector in the 10 inch bar mill. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish Church, Lorain. Richard volunteered for 10 years at the front desk of the former St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain and 13 years at the Lorain V. A. Clinic.
Mr. Weber is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine (née Popovich) Weber of Lorain; son Thomas Weber of Lorain, daughter Sandra Weber, of Sheffield Lake; granddaughters Christine Weber of Lorain, Amy (Joe) Makruski of Sheffield Lake, and Lyndsey Logan; great-grandchildren Mallory and Avery Makruski and nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by parents William and Margaret (née Dolski) Weber; brothers Edward, Robert and James Weber; sisters Geraldine Hamilton and Dolores Weber and siblings in infancy.
His family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where Closing Prayers will be Friday at 12 (noon) then Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish Church, 2143 Homewood Drive (at Grove Ave. Rt. 57). Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct Military Honors.
