Rebecca Ann Stohrel, 86, Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother

Photo of Rebecca Ann Stohrel Rebecca Ann Stohrel (nee Karns), 86, of North Ridgeville and formerly of Sheffield Lake, died Wednesday March 20, 2013 in her home.

She was born May 23, 1926 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late William and Rebecca C. Karns (nee Spotts) and is the beloved wife of 67 � years of Charles F. Stohrel. She is also survived by her children Linda (Tom) Chapin of Elyria, Pamela (Dale) Greene of Randolph, Richard (Davida) Stohrel of Sheffield and Nancy (Steve) Pawlowski of Amherst, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son Charles F. Stohrel, Jr, grandson Joseph D. Byrd, sister Martha Roland and brothers William, James and Donald Karns.

Rebecca worked most of her life at Fisher Foods and Cunningham Drugs where she won numerous contests for her cosmetic displays. She loved and took care of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her husband and was a pillar of strength through their marriage. She loved crafts, especially making Cabbage Patch dolls for her grandchildren as well as other children. She was very frugal and enjoyed thrift shopping. She was an accomplished seamstress and provided her children and grandchildren with homemade Halloween costumes. Rebecca loved to bake cakes, Christmas cookies and lemon meringue pie was a family favorite. She loved vacations, going to casinos, watching Wheel of Fortune and playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren. She collected angels and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

The family will receive friends Monday 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:30 am at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Chris Robinson, chaplain o few Life Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

Rebecca’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of New Life Hospice for their compassionate care and kind words at the end of her life.
