Luis Alberto Jimenez, Sr., 66, Will be Dearly Missed

Photo of Luis Alberto Jimenez, Sr. Luis Alberto Jimenez, Sr., 66 of Lorain passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in the comfort of his home, following a lengthy illness.

Luis was born on May 18, 1946, in Utuado, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain on July 4, 1964. Luis was employed at Green Bean Greenhouse in Westlake for 20 years and worked as an independent contractor for Label & Co in Cleveland for 25 yrs. He enjoyed building cabinets, golfing, fishing and playing dominos. He also enjoyed playing flight simulator and other computer games. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Luis was the president of Coameno and vice president of Puerto Rican Home both in Lorain.

He will be dearly missed his wife of 37 years, Nellie Jimenez (née Delgado); daughters Marilyn (Jay) Santiago of Lorain and Marlene (Albert) Jimenez of San Diego, California, sons Luis (Tammy) Jimenez Jr., Angel (Christina) Jimenez, Eric Jimenez, and Ariel (Marisol) Jimenez all of Lorain. 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers Ariel Jimenez and Juan “Johnny” Maldonado both of Lorain, Angel Rivera of Miami, Florida, Ramon Rivera of Deltona, Florida, Miguel Rivera Brooklyn, New York and Sisters, Zaida DeJesus of Deltona; Nidia Oliveras of Lorain, and Emineth and Lisandra Jimenez both of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents Serafin and Asuncion (née Maldonado) Jimenez; brothers Jorge Rivera, Hector and Carlos Jimenez, and his granddaughter Arianna Jimenez.

His family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where closing prayers will be Monday at 8:45 in the funeral home then Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
