Raymond J. McConnon, Sr., 93, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Raymond J. McConnon, Sr. Raymond J. McConnon, Sr., age 93, of Avon, passed away April 7, 2013 at his son's home.

Ray was born July 2, 1919 in Scranton, Pa. and had been a resident of the Westside of Cleveland since 1946. He married his loving wife of 64 years, the late Mary Jane (nee Ruddy), on August 8, 1939.

A veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, Ray retired from Local 120 Pipefitters at the age of 62. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and watching boxing and golf. He will be fondly remembered as an honest man who was completely devoted to his family.

Ray is survived by sons, Michael (Kathy), Raymond (Wanda), Patrick (Patricia) and Anthony (the late Francia) McConnon; daughter, Kathleen (Jack) McConnon; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Burial and military honors will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
