Betty Jean Kell, 90, Loving Mother & Grandmother
Betty Jean Kell, (nee Hartman) age 90, of Lorain, passed away on the evening of Sunday May 19, 2013, in the presence of her family, while a resident of the Lake Pointe Health Center.She was born in Cleveland on September 4, 1922; she had been a resident of Lorain for most of her life.
Betty was a 1959 graduate of the St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing and had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at both St. Joseph Hospital and Lorain Community Hospital. Following her retirement, she worked for a number of years as a private duty nurse. Throughout her life, she was always known to have placed the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her daughters Judy Beurksen of Elyria and Jacqueline (Daniel) Drake of Oberlin, along with three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and sister Rhea Jackson, residing in Washington D.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 1960, by her son Keane T. Kell in 2007, by her mother Alta Marie Hartman (nee Martene), by her brother William Hartman, by her grandmother, sister-in-law, and two nieces.
The Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel is assisting Betty’s family with private funeral services.
