Henry W. Kozloski, 85, Renowned Sports Writer & Newsman

He was born December 15, 1927 in Plains, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain most of his life.
Hank served with the US Air Force from 1946-1949 and was stationed in the Aleutians Islands. He attended Ohio University and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor Degree in Journalism.
Hank was a renowned sports writer and newsman for the Lorain Journal from 1956 to 1991 serving as sports editor and beat writer for the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. In 1972, he began serving as an American League official scorer of the Cleveland Indians.
Hank was one of the founding members of the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame and served as president in 1974. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996.
He was a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America, the Society of Professional Journalists, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi Fraternity and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain. He recently joined Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.
He is survived by his sister Christine Simonovich (George) of Lorain, brother Robert Kozloski of Elyria and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Helen Kozloski (nee Bors) in 2006, parents Walter and Mary Kozloski (nee Jakuboski) and brothers Louis Kozloski in 1995 and Vincent Kozloski in 2003.
The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where the Lorain Sports Hall of Fame will conduct a memorial service Friday at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
