William Adkins, 75, Enjoyed Driving Semis, Bluegrass Music, and NASCAR

Photo of William  Adkins William �Bill� Adkins Jr., age 75 of Grafton, passed away on Sunday June 23, 2013 at Keystone Pointe, LaGrange after a lengthy illness.

Bill was born on July 15, 1937 in Logan West Virginia and has lived in Grafton for the past 14 years. He had previously lived in Oberlin and North Ridgeville.

Bill was the owner/operator of Adkins Trucking Company for 45 years, retiring in 2006. Mr. Adkins served in the US Army 1955-1958 and was a member of the AMVETS Post 32 in Elyria.

Driving a semi was not just a job for Bill, he truly enjoyed it. He was also a lover of good Bluegrass music and NASCAR, following the #3 car of Dale Earnhardt and most recently the #8 car of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lucille (nee Dotson); sons Gary (Dawn) Adkins of Kentucky, Glenn Adkins of Elyria, Gerald Adkins of Grafton, Gene (Jessica) of Elyria; daughter Michele Stephens of Elyria; daughter-in-law Barb Adkins of Grafton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Roger (Barb) Adkins of Homerville; sisters Nettie Lambert of West Virginia, Faye (Howard) Franklin of Kentucky, Sue (Bill) Bailey of Richfield and Ruby (Harold) Bailey of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parent William Sr. and Alma (nee Ramey) Adkins; son Gregory Adkins; brothers James and Bill Adkins and sisters Jean Wade and Cleo Simpson.

Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville on Tuesday from 5-8 PM where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
