Confesor Padua, 99, Will be Deeply Missed

Photo of Confesor Padua Confesor Padua, 99, of Lorain passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 in Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a short illness.

He was born June 15, 1913 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Mr. Padua moved to Lorain in 1974. He was a self-employed farmer in Puerto Rico.

Confesor attended Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He enjoyed playing Musica Jibara on his Cuatro.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 78 years Cristina Padua (née Ortiz) of Lorain; daughters Cecilia Sanchez of Lares, Puerto Rico, Mercedes Padua of Anasco, Puerto Rico, Gloria Mendoza of La Habra, California, Miriam Novales of Palm Bay, Florida, Elba Padua and Carmen Marquez both of Lorain; sons Justo Padua, Luis Padua and Ariel Padua all of Lorain, Confesor Padua, Jr. of Camuy, Puerto Rico and Nelson Padua if Palm Bay, Florida; 37 grandchildren and 50 great and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Juan De La Cruz and Maria Rivera; daughter Margarita Padua; sister Jenara Padua; brothers Pedro, Manuel and Loncho Padua.

His family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, where Closing Prayers will be Friday at 9:15 AM then Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father Donald Dunson, pastor of Saint Vincent De Paul Church, Elyria Township will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
