Ruth M. Lucas, 92, Enjoyed Traveling and Music

Photo of Ruth M. Lucas Ruth M. Lucas, 92 of Amherst died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Golden Acres Nursing Home where she was loved and cared for. Her guardian, great nephew and niece surrounded her at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ethelyn Lucas, brothers William J. Lucas, Robert H. Lucas and a sister Virginia E. Lucas.

She is survived by nieces Julia Lucas Curtis, Linda Lucas Bowers and Susie Lucas, nephews Joseph Lucas, David Lucas, Matthew Lucas, 15 grand nieces, 5 great grand nieces and nephews and guardian Jennifer DeWitt.

Ruth was a high school English teacher at Lorain High School until she retired on July 1, 1988. She was passionate about education and making a difference in the lives of her students. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her sister Virginia, music, and was adventurous and had even taken flying lessons after her retirement. She was very active with Heritage Presbyterian Church.

There will be no visitation and services are private. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.
