Daniel E. Horvath, 56, Local Business Owner

Dan was born in Lorain on November 27, 1956; he graduated from Lorain High School with the Class of 1975 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1980. While enrolled at the university he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

Following his graduation Dan was first employed as a Probation Officer for the Lorain County Court System. He later served as a sales representative for the Michigan-based Keller Products Company. At the time of his death, he was the owner of a variety of local businesses including Cliff Brown Carpet Cleaning, Dano’s Pizza, Raven Blacktopping, Precision Property Management, and Sebastian’s Nite Club of North Ridgeville .

Dan was a lover of animals who enjoyed listening to music as well as playing darts in his free time. In 2001, his dart team won the O.V.I. World Championship title during competition in Las Vegas , Nevada .

Dan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his numerous friends and, especially, his family including his mother Violet Horvath (nee DeSantis) of Lorain, his sister Linda (Alan) Irwin residing in North Ridgeville, his companion Leann Nielsen also of North Ridgeville, his brother-in-law Nick (Kathie) Chlepciak, his sons Jonathan (Julie) Shoemaker, Justin Bilyj, and Jason (Liz) Bilyj, his daughters Ashley Bilyj and Brittany (Brian) Ferguson, his grandsons Tyler Shoemaker and Alexander Bilyj, his granddaughters Alexis Shoemaker and Sabrina Bilyj, his nephew Mark (Brittany) Irwin, and nieces Lauren and Julie Chlepciak, and Jennifer (Brian) Slife.

He was preceded in death by his wife Debra (nee Chlepciak) and father Ernest “Butch” Horvath.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue Lorain . Funeral services will be Wednesday in the funeral chapel at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park , Amherst Township .
