Bienvenida Castro, 85, Founding Member of the Hispanic Neighborhood House Women's Club

Photo of Bienvenida Castro Bienvenida Castro (Rosario), 85, of Lorain, went home to the Lord, Friday, June 21, 2013 in University Hospital, Cleveland from a sudden illness.

She was born May 1, 1928 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain from Puerto Rico in 1950.

Bienvenida created a happy and beautiful home for her family. She will always be missed, loved and remembered. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Also she was a founding member of the Hispanic Neighborhood House Women�s Club, Lorain. Bienvenida enjoyed knitting, traveling, bingo and a loyal Cleveland Indians Fan.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Maria (Ernesto) Rodriguez of Lorain and Irma (Justo deceased) Figueroa of Bloomfield, New Jersey; brothers Lucas and Juan Castro both of Puerto Rico; sisters Mercedes, Rosa, Luisa, Carmen and Virginia of Puerto Rico and Maria Castro of Lorain; grandchildren Marisol (Freddy) Mustafa, Edgar (Carey) Rodriguez, Ricky and Amanda Rodriguez, Justin and Joshua Figueroa, Jerusalyn (Edin) Herrera, Antolin and Julio Jr., Julissa and Omar Castro. Her first great grandchild, Ashley Rodriguez, followed by 10 more. And four great great grandchildren.

Bienvenida was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years Antolin Castro in 2004; her parents Marco Castro and Raphaela Rosario; son Julio Castro; daughter Juanita Castro; brothers Cano, Victor, Jose and Alberto Rosario.

Her family will receive friends Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain; friends may also call Tuesday from 8:30 until time of Mass of the Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
