George R. Maxwell, 83, U.S. Army Veteran
George R. Maxwell (Uncle George) age 83 of Sheffield Lake, died Sunday July 7, 2013 in Lake Pointe Health Center after a lingering illness.
George was born June 5, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pa and lived most of his life in Sheffield Lake.
He had been employed at Cotter and Co. in Westlake for about 15 years, and prior to that he worked for the City of Sheffield Lake in the Street Dept.
He was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the VFW.
George is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Maxwell in 1987, and parents Frank and Margaret Maxwell, and sisters Fannie Maxwell, Robina Moore, and Alice Rowe.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10 AM till time of service at 11 AM in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Deacon Lou Maldonado will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the D.A.V. Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20.
