Helen P. Dennis, 93, Enjoyed Cooking, Baking, and Attending Sports Activities

She was born January 10, 1920 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Helen is survived by daughters Gloria Worden and Andrea Earl (Robert Barlipp), grandchildren Jenny and Kenneth Perks, James and Linda Worden and Lindsey Earl, great-grandchildren Andrew Perks, Willis Perks and Adeline Worden, brother Louis Pongracz, Godchildren John Berki, Jo Lynne Hall, Jill Murrell and Julie Ann Schooler, and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and loving extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, brothers William and Julius Pongracz, sisters Serena Molnar, Julie Berki, Agnes Thompson and Wilma Deliman, parents Anthony and Elizabeth Pongracz (nee Kalassay) and son-in-law James F. Worden.
Helen â�Hennyâ�� was very active in her church, Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain. She volunteered in the Stop 7 Ladies Guild which provided food for gatherings, was a past president of the PTA at Vincent Elementary where she had also worked as a cook in the school cafeteria. She belonged to the Clearview High School Band Boosters for many years. She was the first member of her family to graduate from Clearview High School.
Helen loved to cook and bake and was famous for her â�puff pastryâ�� and whipped jello with family and friends. She enjoyed attending sports activities such as baseball and football games that many of her family participated in, especially, her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday 4-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing hours will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 am at the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, 1691 E. 31st St, Lorain. The Rev. Peter Toth, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
