Neal K. Szabados, 81, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Neal K. Szabados Neal K. Szabados, age 81 of Lorain, died Wednesday July 24, 2013 in the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky.

He was born February 9, 1932 in Lorain, and remained a lifelong resident.

Neal worked as a fabricator for the Xerxes Co. in Avon for 20 years. He was a Navy veteran and served on the USS Baltimore #68 during the Korean War. He enjoyed artistic painting, coin and stamp collecting, and gardening, along with being an avid fisherman.

He is survived by sons Paul (Denise) Szabados of Amherst, Mark (Ursula) Szabados of Cleveland, daughters Susan Thacker of Lorain, and Karen (Vince) Kostos of Racine, WI, grandchildren Joe and Chris (Lisa) Thacker, Josh, Zechariah, Phillip, Claire, Nathan, Luke, and Eva Szabados, and Tyler, Logan, and Leah Kostos, and great-grandchildren Bailey and Kyleigh, along with a brother Raymond Szabados of CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donna J. in 1988, brothers Frank Jr. and Leroy Szabados, and parents Frank Sr. and Helen Szabados.

Friends may call Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be there on Saturday beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 451 and the American Legion Post 30.
