Carmela Scrofano, 88, Enjoyed Sewing & Cooking

She was born in Augusta, Sicily on March 7, 1925. Carmela, along with her late husband, Giovanni, immigrated to the United States from their native Sicily in 1956.
Following the untimely death of her spouse in 1965, Mrs. Scrofano single-handedly raised her five children while balancing the responsibilities of parenthood with those of her career as a production assistant at several local manufacturing companies. She retired in 1980 following a twenty year career in the workplace. Dedicated to her family, she was recognized as a devoted, loving, and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mrs. Scrofano was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain; in her free time she enjoyed sewing and cooking and always displayed a sincere love for others.
Survivors include her daughters Donna Giedlinski of Lorain, Frances Zavarella of Solon, sons Sal G. Scrofano of Cincinnati, and Joseph Scrofano residing in Long Beach California, twelve grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves sisters Pina Soricaro and Rosalina Imprescia both residing in Augusta, Sicily.
In addition to her husband, Carmela was preceded in death by her son Robert in 2003, by her parents Giuseppe and Francesca Galofaro, and three sisters.
