Genell A. Algarin, 71, Enjoyed Cooking & Baking
Genell A. Algarin (nee Nelson), 71, of Lorain, died Sunday July 28, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 21, 1942 in Marshall, North Carolina and had resided in Lorain since she was a child.
Genell was a member of Tower Baptist Church in Lorain, was involved in her church and participated in church Bible study.
She enjoyed baking during the holidays making nutroll and poppysead roll. She loved to cook and catered small events. Genell collected porcelain dolls and bells and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and babysitting children.
She is survived by her children Linda Wyatt (John), Becky Torres (Hiram) and John Algarin, all of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brothers Roger Nelson (Jane) of Lorain and William “J.R.”Nelson of Fort Wayne, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Socorro “Louie” Algarin in 1980, parents James R. and Anna Mae Nelson (nee Brown) and brother Junior Brown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Tower Baptist Church, 1331 Tower Blvd, Lorain. The Rev. Gary Dorsey, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
