Laura V. Meredith, 96, Loved to Travel

Mrs. Meredith was born in Turbotville, PA on October 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Harry and Laura Viola (nee Fry) Menges. She moved to Lorain at 8 years old and was a graduate of the Class of 1937 at Lorain High School.
She was a member of he Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church. She was a supervisor at Lorain Telephone Company, retiring 30 years ago.
Mrs. Meredith was a 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a life member of American Slovak Club, charter member the M. J. Hummel Club and a life member of Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. She also volunteered at the Port Authorities' Lorain Light House.
She was active in organizing her class reunions, loved to travel especially taking bus tours.
Mrs. Meredith is survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lyndon Meredith in 1993, a brother Edward Menges, sisters, Isabelle "Betty" McHenry, Mary Barnes, Dorothy Milks, and Jean Coupe.
Friends may call on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9:30 am in the funeral home Chaplain Charles Boals, Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township.
