Dallas Kampf, 24, Artist & Mathematician

Photo of Dallas Kampf Dallas Thorne Kampf, 24 of Amherst, Ohio died Thursday, August 29 2013.

Dallas was born on September 14, 1988 in Lorain, Ohio to Raelene Kampf-Ramirez (née Muzik) and Mark Francis Kampf. Dallas went through life with a unique ability to see logic in all forms, and dedicated himself to understanding mathematical applications in the physical world. He was a rare sight at times, for even when Dallas was playing poker he had a calculus textbook open on his lap. Dallas combined an impressive intellect with a wry sense of humor whose constant parody of social norms made him such a fun companion. He climbed, hiked, and explored the outdoors, and could never leave a trail log book without an obscure reference to an inside joke. Dallas touched the lives of so many people during his short stay on this planet. No one was closer to Dallas or understood him better than his loving brother Cory Matthew Kampf.

He will be remembered as an accomplished, national-award-winning artist, a mathematician, a seeker of truth, a leader, a ruthless card player, and, most importantly, a compassionate and loving person.

Dallas is also survived by his brothers Hunter Kampf of Las Vegas and Devin Ramirez of Amherst, OH; his step-parents Anthony Ramirez of Amherst and Brenda Kampf of Las Vegas; his grandmother Marge Muzik, great-grandmother “little grandma” Marge Czarneski, aunt Rochelle Muzik, uncle Raymond Muzik, and great aunt Marge Daidone all of Lorain; his uncle Phillip Kampf of Pahrump, NV, his aunts Beverly Pauly (née Kampf) and Doris Miller (née Kampf) of Sun City West, AZ and many cousins and second-cousins in the northeast Ohio area and across the country.

Dallas was preceded in his journey by his paternal grandparents Frank Kampf and Julia Kampf (née Moldovan), and his maternal grandfather Donald Muzik and great-grandmother Stella Kosco.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on September 14th from 5 to 8 pm at Rosewood Place, 4493 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Please come to share your memories of Dallas with family and friends.
