Cora J. Mitcheff, 84, Enjoyed Gardening and Bingo

Photo of Cora J. Mitcheff Cora J. Mitcheff, (nee Moore), age 84, of Lorain, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Saturday September 7th, 2013.

She was born in Avon Lake, Ohio on August 25, 1929 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1948.

Cora had been employed as a cashier for Finast Supermarkets; she retired in 1987 following twenty-three years of service with the grocer. She was a long-time member of United Food and Commercial Workers Local # 880.

Mrs. Mitcheff was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post # 1662 in Lorain and also served as a volunteer at the Lorain Senior Center. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; additional interests included gardening and attending area bingo games.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years George, by daughters Sandra (Edward) Dulemba of Amherst, and Debra (the late James) Dietrich of Lorain, by her son Michael A. (Gladys) Mitcheff of Lorain, along with eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ethel (nee Hieleman) Moore, by brothers Henry, Edward, Harold, Paul, William, Earl, Howard, and Robert and by sisters Ruth, Louise, Betty, and Alma.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Louis Kayatin, Pastor of the Church on the North Coast officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
