Marjorie J. Laury, 94, Loved Cats
Marjorie J. Laury, 94, (nee Wilhelm) of Lorain passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Anchor Lodge Retirement Village.
Mrs. Laury was born in Willard on August 25, 1919, the daughter of the late William C. and Sarah James (nee McGraw) Wilhelm. She was a graduate of Willard High School, Class of 1937, and earned a business degree from Oberlin College.
She was a very active member of First Congregational Church in Lorain including the Women's Fellowship and the church choir.
Mrs. Laury retired as a book keeper. She had been employed by the Lorain Auto Parts, F & J Builder and the Building Industries of America.
She loved cats and rescued siamese cats. She also enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. Laury is survived by daughters, Carolyn I. (Maynard) Burton of Tonopah, Arizona, Josephine M Fernandez of Hialeah, FL, Christine J. (Stanley) Morgan of Lorain, grandchildren Cheri Ebert, Brian Biehler, Stacey Layport, Allison Morgan, Scott Murphy and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Glen F. Sparks in 1945, her second husband Arthur A. Laury amd her sister Miriam Wilhelm.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 423 Washington Ave., Lorain, with Rev. Karen Farthing, pastor, officiating.
Graveside Services will be Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery, Williard Ohio.
The family suggest that memorial contributions maybe made to the Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd Elyria, OH 44035 or the First Congegational Church, 423 Washington Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052.
