Ernestine Anderson, 79, Enjoyed Baking and Flower Gardening

Ernestine Anderson, (nee Dillon), age 79, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2013 while a resident of the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.

She was born in Mingo County, Kentucky on June 28, 1934 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1953.

For seventeen years Mrs. Anderson had been employed in cafeteria services for the Lorain City Schools System.

Ernestine was member of the Community United Methodist Church in Elyria and had served as the director of the Hot Meals Program there for a number of years. She was well known for her nurturing personality and always received a high level of contentment in making certain that everyone was adequately nourished.

Devoted to her family, she enjoyed baking and flower gardening in her free time.

Survivors include her sons Michael E. Anderson and Dennis J. “D.J.” Anderson both residing in Lorain along with her daughter Christina (Steve) Kleb living in Meadowlakes, Texas. Additional survivors include grandchildren James Anderson, Jessica Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Alexandria Anderson, Thomas Stawicki, Samantha Stawicki, Darin Kleb, Bryan Kleb, Angela Kleb, and great grandson Juelien Anderson. She also leaves sisters JoAnn Terbot of Buffalo, New York, Carolyn Sue Napier of Pritchard, West Virginia, and Edie Chalfant of Sebring, Florida, along with brothers Albert Dillon, Jr. of Pritchard, West Virginia, Clyde Dillon of Westerville, Ohio, Cutler Dillon of Shelby, North Carolina, and Dwight Dillon of Kitts Hill, Ohio.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Anderson in 1997, by her father Albert Dillon, Jr., by her mother Rena Dillon (nee Hall), and a total of eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Donald Lare, pastor of the Community United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Hot Meals Program of the Community United Methodist Church, 680 North Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
