Shirley Jane Van Sickle, Devoted Mother and Grandmother

She was born in Geneva, New York in 1938 and attended school there. She married her husband Andy in New York in 1955 and then moved to Lorain in 1956 where they raised their three children.
Outside the home, Shirley was a dedicated worker with a great work ethic. She retired from Drug Mart in Lorain in 2008 where she worked as a bookkeeper.
She was proud of her children and loved spending time with them and her four grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music from the 50’s, was an avid follower of national politics and like to cook (her macaroni salad was amazing).
She attended Sts. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain where she was a member for over 55 years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Andy, sister Jean Williams of Shortsville, NY, brother John Bullock of Auburn, NY, daughter Holly (Bob) Mihok of Amherst, son John (Kim) Van Sickle of Lorain, four grandchildren Megan Mihok of Lakewood, Bobby Mihok of Amherst and Brent and John JD Van Sickle, both of Lorain as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Mike, mother Esther Benge (nee Arnold), father Edwin Benge, sister Irene Webber and step-mother Millie Benge.
The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing time s will be Tuesday from 10:30 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd, Lorain. The Rev. Edgar Anthony, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
