Jean H. Ferrence, 74, Always Put Family First

Photo of Jean H. Ferrence Jean H. Ferrence (nee Kulchar), 74, of Lorain, died Saturday November 9, 2013 at her home while surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 3, 1939 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Jean graduated from Lorain High School in 1957. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Altar & Rosary Society and Slovak Catholic Sokols. Jean enjoyed taking care of her family and always put them first in her life. She helped raise her two brothers after the death of her parents and enjoyed the family pets. Her hobbies included ceramics, working in her yard, camping, bowling and shopping at Kohl’s.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Dennis Ferrence, children Brenda (Vincent) Foreman and Kenneth (Karen) Ferrence, all of Lorain, grandchildren Josh, Abby & Shane, great granddaughter Ariana, brothers Charlie (Peggy) Kulchar and Gary Kulchar, all of Amherst and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Helen Kulchar (nee Gaydosh) and her twin sister Joan Brannan.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where the St. Nicholas Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Tuesday at 6:30 pm and the Parastas service will be Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Panachida services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St, Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
