Robert T. Welch, 75, Avid Sports Fan

Photo of Robert T. Welch Robert T. Welch “Box Car Bobby”, age 75, of North Ridgeville passed away Sunday November 10, 2013 at EMH Regional Medical Center.

Born in North Ridgeville, he was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Welch worked for Ford Motor Company 40 years. He started at the Lorain Plant and then was part of the first crew to work at the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake in 1973 where he worked until retiring in 2000.

He was active with the UAW Local 2000 retirees. He loved to work in his yard and on his cars. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching NASCAR, football and especially baseball. He also was a history buff.

He was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Della (nee Clark), 5 daughters, Anna (William) Sankey, Robin (Tim) Jones, both of N. Ridgeville, Christine (Terry) Tubbs, Bobbi (Rob) Jakubiak both of Lorain and Della (Mark) Smith of N. Ridgeville, 2 sons, John (Tammy Gardner) Welch of Eaton Township and Tim (Marilyn) Welch of Grafton, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Joe and Jack Welch and one sister Loretta (Bob) Butler all of N. Ridgeville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia (nee Porrelli) Welch and one sister Julie Welch.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at Bogner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at St. Peter Church with Fr. Bob Franco, Pastor as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
