Sandra V. Sniezek, 71, Enjoyed Spending Time with Grandchildren

Photo of Sandra V. Sniezek Sandra V. Sniezek (nee Markowich), 71, of Lorain, died peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain from complications of Leukemia.

She was born October 16, 1942 in Kempton, Maryland and had resided in Lorain since 1965 moving from Oberlin.

Sandra graduated from Oberlin High School in 1960 where she was a cheerleader. As a youth, she enjoyed gymnastics.

She worked at Hills Department Store in Amherst as a ticketing and stock person. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain and a past member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain where she and her husband Edward were married.

Sandra enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, casino trips and vacation cruises. She recently celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Edward Sniezek, children Catherine Sniezek of Coral Springs, Florida and son Richard Sniezek (Janet) of Beaver Creek, grandchildren Alexandra, Jake and Charlie Sniezek, brother Edward Markowich, Jr of Elyria and nephews Craig Markowich (Nicole) of Amherst and Darrell Markowich (Crystal) of Greenwood, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward A. Markowich, Sr and Anna Virginia “Ginger” Markowich (nee Dragovich).

The family will receive friends Friday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11:00 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Gerald J. Keller, Sandra’s cousin, and the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph for the care they provided Sandra during her stay.
