Shirley A. Heimann, 86, Accomplished Vocalist

Photo of Shirley A. Heimann Shirley A. Heimann, 86, (nee Barnes) of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

Mrs. Heimann was born in Elyria on August 4, 1927, the daughter of the late Dee Bee and Laura K (nee Fiedler) Barnes. She was a graduate of Vermilion High School and the Oberlin School of Commerce.

She retired from Ohio Edison Company's accounting department in 1973. She was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain and a member of The Martha's Circle of the church.

Mrs. Heimann was an accomplished vocalist singing with The Harmonettes and Sweet Adelines-Lake Ridge Chorus. She was also a member and past treasurer of the Faith Followers of Helen Steiner Rice and had volunteered with New Life Hospice.

She is survived by daughters, Jacquelyn Reed of Hartville, Jill (Keith) Howard of Troy, MI, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sisters Maxine (Robert) Raven of Vermilion, Delaures (Donald) Hoffman of Seneca, SC, Virginia (James) Snell of Vermilion, brother Richard Barnes of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence O. Jones in 1966, her second husband Donald W. Heimann in 1987 and a sister Marjorie Hodgson.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 25 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Chaplain Chuck Boals, officiating.

Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township, Ohio.
