Raymond W. Buehrle, 82, U.S. Navy Veteran

Photo of Raymond W. Buehrle Raymond W. Buehrle, age 82, of Lorain died Thursday, November 21, 2013 under hospice care at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Bath High School and Kent State University. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Naval Occupation Medal.

Raymond moved to Lorain in 1960 and worked as a Process Engineer at the Ford Motor Company, Lorain, retiring in 1990. Upon his retirement he was able to spend more time with his family and the outdoor activities he loved. Raymond was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also a talented woodworker.

He was an active member of the Senior Fellowship Club of Lorain and was an active parishioner and usher at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (nee Trockle) of Lorain, daughters Patricia St. Cyr (Mark) of Hinsdale, IL, Therese Scaff of Lorain, Christine Perebzak (John) of Wadsworth, and sons, John (Margaret) of Columbus and Joseph of Lorain. Additional survivors include grandchildren Christina, Andrew and Claire St. Cyr, Crystal Scaff, Eric, Bryan and Emily Perebzak and Ally and Lauren Buehrle and great grandson Curtis Lancaster along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dolores (nee Houck) Buehrle, sister, Mary Lou and brother-in-law, John (Jack) Guyer.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue. Reverend Richard Hudak, pastor of the parish will officiate. Committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 East Waterloo Road, Akron, Ohio.

Mr. Buehrle’s family would like to thank the staff at Golden Acres for their loving care of Raymond for the last 4-1/2 years.
